Default JJ flops overpair 25nl

Villain is something like 8/7 whatever over 70 hands. Last orbit he raised UTG, I looked at his stats and 3-bet him out of sb with AA, he 4-bet the pot and called with KK when I shoved.

Anyways here's the hand:

BTN: $22.45
Hero (SB): $56.75

You HAVE to 3-bet this PF. Call the bet and re-evaluate.

What do you think his range is UTG? Would you 3-bet TT here? 99? I really don't see a difference between those and JJ here at all.

There is a difference between tt, 99, and jj. jj is better, and by a little more than I think you're suggesting.

Either way, you're not doing it for value so much as to be the aggressor. By doing it, your line will be so much easier. You won't get raised on the flop and if you do it is an easy fold. If he calls, check / call the turn.

Hank,

Think about those hands in relation to his range. He's probably opening AA-QQ, AK UTG here, and he's possibly even tighter. JJ and 99 are the same against his range.

Also what do you think he's raising the flop with here? Unless he's raising my flop donk with AK I am behind. This way I can play for set value and not play guessing games on the turn (although check-calling the flop would make money off of AK c-betting; donking just folds AK and gets me raised by better hands). And he's shown a tendency to play big pairs fast preflop, so 3betting just gets me 4-bet by better hands and I lose my chance to flop a set and stack him.

I know...but I know that only after seeing this hand played out. If I knew he would raise you on the flop I wouldn't suggest re-raising PF. I would call only for set value.

But against most opponents re-raising here is good IMO. As played, I don't think there is anything wrong with folding or calling and re-evaluating on the turn.

Calling the raise on the flop is burning money, he's an 8/7 which is why I played the hand this way.

standardddddd against this nit. c/c'ing the flop and c/f'ing the turn is another option.

shove the flop

(you folded an overpair against a nit, you're behind his range and that's that)
