good non-strategy poker books

could anyone suggest some good books set around the world of poker which arent strategy ones. Are there any good ones? i think the only one ive heard of is 'The Professor, the Banker & the Suicide King'. Is that worth reading?

I enjoyed it. I would also suggest How To Win The World Series Of Poker (Or Not) by Pat Walsh as well as Positively Fifth Street by James Macmanus.

My all time favorite non strategy poker book though is Positively Fifth Street by McManus. It covers the Binion murder quite thoroughly if you are interested in that topic.

The Professor, the Banker & the Suicide King is a great book and well worth reading if you are interested in the world of very high stakes poker. I really enjoyed the sections on Ted Forrest and other players' gambling addiction.

Even though I am going to get ragged for this one, I also liked Chris Moneymaker's book and Matt Matros' book: "Making of a Poker Player"

And although it has some strategy material, Ace on the River is a short, though entertaining read.

The Biggest Game in Town by A. Alvarez is a great read about the professional poker scene in Las Vegas. Written in the early '80s, it's a very different world than the glamour world of today.

Read 'Em and Weep, edited by John Stravinsky. Quoting from the back cover, "A literary tour of the wide world of poker, from the Wild West to the present day." Published in 2004, this is a collection of 39 nuggets of pure poker gold. Most selections are less than 10 pages long, so they make for quick reading. A fascinating break when you're tired of calculating M, Q, reverse implied odds, and SPR's.

I'll add my vote for Poker Nation and Positively Fourth ... I mean Fifth ... Street.

I enjoyed BIG DEAL by Anthony Holden although I guess it's a little dated now, and I must admit one of the reasons I enjoyed it was that I'm a Brit, like Holden, and it made me smile, the way his US opponents called him 'London Tony'.

Basically, an account of a journalist's attempt to make a living as a poker pro for 12 months (back in the days before everybody wanted to be a poker pro.)

I thought it was lame. I do want to read Positively Fifth Street though - can't believe I haven't read that one yet.
