stox - Just to be clear, I was pretty much kidding in the subject-line and was pretty sure it was just lazyness/oversight. Sorry if you think it's misleading and that others may have viewed it differently. Should have added a Ha Ha or something in there I guess.

Later the thought did occur to me that MAYBE you somehow just wanted to sell the book on your site or something really weird like that. But I didn't think that was very likely.

microbob - no big deal at all. I missed the kidding part, my bad.

a lot of what 2+2 brings to the table for an author is relationships with bookstores nationwide so it would be silly for me to work with them and then not leverage those relationships!

they got my book into thousands of stores without a problem. in addition to the advice/editing/reputation they bring to the game.

Do I have to pay a thousand dollars an hour to read this book?

MicroBob--

This is a company that still has Lynne Loomis--and not Ed Miller, Dan Harrington, or Stox--listed prominently on its website's front page. So, as a general rule, thinking that website prominence and 2+2 internal respect are correlated is probably not a good idea.

(Of course I might just be saying this because I think that Stox's book is the single best thing 2+2 has ever published. Theory of Poker might still be better, especially relative to its time, but WTHG is at least close.)

Well, aren't Mason and Ed sworn enemies?

Lynne*--

No disrespect meant. It's just that judging from 2+2's other advertising focuses, and promotions, and from the Amazon best-seller lists, etc., they (and the general public) consider Harrington et al. to be heavier hitters, name-recognition-wise.

I'm not at all familiar with your work--I might have read a couple pages of Fundamentals of Craps** once, but that's it--and certainly have no negative opinions of it.

I hope I haven't committed too much of a faux pas here. I just meant to point out that 2+2's website seems discordant with its other promotional vectors.

All my best,

--Nate

*If you're in fact Lynne Loomis

**or possibly some other Fundamentals book

But you can adopt one. Remember, ownership is slavery, like "owning" a pet. Naming your child is also an expression of ownership, and is also considered slavery by the politically correct.

noah - the absence of the stox book has been brought up before? Hadn't seen that. thanks.
I have previously seen people comment on the datedness of the "Available for pre-order" books on the front-page though.

Them not caring about such a simple thing to update the 'pre-order' language is weird and looks lazy. Them not even listing the Stox book at all is just nuts.
Can it possibly be intentional and maybe have something to do with him selling it on his own site or something?

[/ QUOTE ]

The book is published by 2+2. This site, especially the non-forum pages, is managed by Conjelco. My opinion is that a lot of stuff here falls through the cracks because of lack of time and focus and communication.
