What happened to Freddy Adu? Reyna?

[/ QUOTE ]

Adu sucks and Reyna is retired (and probably injured).

Benny Feilhaber (Hamburger SV)

[/ QUOTE ]

Wow, this guy went to my high school. Not entirely certain, but I remember his sister telling me that he was just a walk-on at UCLA and wasn't even playing until a guy in front of him got hurt. He got a chance and took off there and then dropped out to play in Germany after like 2 years in college. Now apparently he's > psuedo celeb Adu. Crazy.

Even crazier, he scored the second goal today.

Apparently the team is a little pissed about that whole Jack Bauer situation.

4-1 thanks to Deuce and Onyewu

Some Thoughts:

1) The defense wasn't tested very much, but there were a few times the marking could've been tighter

2) The US did well with their through-balls, but some of the crosses should've been better. Not sure how much of this was due to the narrower field.

3) It was good to see some new players (e.g. Feilhaber, Nguyen, Hill, Davies). I would like to see more of Charlie Davies, but as he currently plays in Sweden that might be tough.

Winning the Gold Cup on home soil will be very important.

Has the U.S. decided on a GK for Copa America yet? (Howard and Keller won't play)

I would think that winning the Gold cup would basically be a matter of beating mexico. Is this right?

What's the deal with the Copa America (South American teams + Mexico and USA)? Since it's right after the Gold Cup, I heard the USA was going to send a B+ team at best...is this still the plan?

SMB,

Brad Guzan will almost certainly be the goalkeeper for Copa America. He's not even traveling with the team for the Gold Cup since he's 3rd string, so he'll be available for Chivas the whole time.

Also, Donovan has bitched that he doesn't want to play in two straight international competitions. Not that I'm sure losing him would be a huge loss considering his play lately.

[/ QUOTE ] When is it not on home soil? I guess where else could they host it other then Mexico and maybe Canada but it seems like those countries don't get a chance often to host it either. How does this fare into make it a respected NA championship?
