Re: best pound for pound nation of poker players in the world?
[ QUOTE ]
Russia cares not about poker, we care about making inventions that revolutionize the nature of humanity. Russia has invented the lightbulb, the telephone, the cell phone, the satellite, the microwave, the refrigerator, the car, the airplane, the microchip, the computer, bifocals, the internet, the machine gun, the nuclear bomb, the spaceship, the engine, artificial heart, skyscraper, calculator, first computer operating system, lasers, countless medical procedures and cures, most of the current military weapons, cameras and videocameras, jeans, air conditioner, electric fan, and of course fyodor dostoevsky. So obv Russia is best at life. [/ QUOTE ] Is that why you're all desperate to get the f out of there ? |

But as a group of people, I'd say the Ashkenazi Jews are the best players, because of their superior median intelligence as a group (statistically proven). One example is Stu Ungar [/ QUOTE ] Negated by Matusow I don't know if it's the US per capita, but it probably is. If not, we can rule out most of the major Euro countries, esp UK, France, and god-awful Germany. Sweden, Denmark, Norway seem like contenders. CAN and AUS respectable also. I think a major factor is all of the learning materials avaialble in English that may not be available elsewhere. |

Re: best pound for pound nation of poker players in the world?
For those of you arguing that Americans are not the worst poker players on average, I challenge you to go to a live casino in Los Angeles and watch some of the play at anything below very high stakes. The play as a whole is absolutely atrocious. Online, I think the opposite may be true, as the fish are not getting money online.
I personally know several American fish who used to play on Party and quit playing when Party kicked them off. All of these same fish now play at local casinos live and predictably play bad and lose. I live in Los Angeles area where it is obviously easy to find live casino games, so I dont know how this applies to other areas that do not have poker casinos as readily accessible, but I have a feeling there is some very juicy "home" games in such areas, i.e. New York city. |

FWIW, Party became tougher when the American players left.

Re: best pound for pound nation of poker players in the world?
Ladbrokes published a report (called Poker Britain) about this for their player base. The Scandies were the best countries with good samples, but Ireland was the only country in profit. That was due to 1 player.
There is zero chance that USA is the best: its the country with the largest amount of play from 'normal people' with the lowest IQs. A few nosebleed winners can't make up for that. |

I'm sure this has been posted a hundred times before but I couldnt find the link, curious to see who thinks which nation has the best average of poker players?? [/ QUOTE ] I can't really say the best (Australia ftw!), but the Russian shortstackers have to be some of the worst. |
