My Campus is getting shot up.

1) shot people through doors who were trying to block his entry
2) shot people who had huddled on the ground in the head
3) lined people up and shot them in the head
4) When people cried for help, went back and shot them

this sort of thing just breaks my heart. i'll probably end up breaking down sometime tonight after i'm drunk.

words won't do it justice; anyone who feels any connection to others as a member of the human race can't help but feel the same way

ehh, nothing i say is going to affect anyone, i'm going to go deal with this in my own way. (I had a friend at VT; he's okay, but several of his friends are not)

The combanation of these stories is quite disturbing. Shows the helplessness of the whole thing.

cnn just had a swat specialist on who said something to the effect of:

"i know this is tough, but you've got to get in there and get to the gunman. once you're close to him and have eliminated him, there is no more threat."

question at press conference now:

"why not shut down campus after the first shooting?"

"the information we received after the first shooting was that it was an isolated incident to that dormitory"

"can you elaborate on why it took two hours to inform students of the first shooting?"

"they were informed"

"students didnt' receive an email until 9:26"

"well, that's when we confirmed what happened."


in between the two they go on to say that they believed the gunman left campus and the state due to information they had, but they would not elaborate why.

Yes, [censored], I would know. I work for the university, this event had a direct impact on my staff. I'm very aware of what went down.

The police were pretty much the first people on the scene and it was quick. They were able to assess the situation very quickly. The gap between the University's knowlege of what happened and police involvement and understanding that it was a murder/suicide was basically non-existant.

How sick is it that when I first hear about something like this my reaction is more like "Again?" than "OMG this is horrible!"? Hearing about it from people who were close to the action really humanizes it, though, and it just makes me sick to my stomach, prayers go out to people affected by all of this. Keep us posted with insider info, the news stories are kind of slow and lacking.
