$1.20 Flopped Set on Straight board. Call all-in?
No read on villian. Is this a standard call? Should I have raised on flop?

Raise flop to 500.
As played, call. I give nobody credit at this level. They could easily just have a pair, or draw or even AK and things. |

Re: $1.20 Flopped Set on Straight board. Call all-in?
For the love of god, raise the flop to 600 - 700. Then shove any turn.
As played call. UTG (at this buyin) so often has hands here that you beat - AA, KK, QQ, AsXs, AJ, QJ, JT, J9, etc. - and so infrequently has the ones you are behind - JJ, TT, 99, KQ, 87 - that it's +cEV to call. Especially considering you have 10 outs on the river to the most likely hands that you are trailing (KQ and 87) and this line by villain is almost never JJ, TT, or 99. OK, sometimes it actually is a better set but it's the worst line possible with those sets. Sort of like your line on the flop here (no offense). |

Re: $1.20 Flopped Set on Straight board. Call all-in?
$1.20 is absolutely the worst poker I have ever seen. If you want to practice your "strategy" for the 1.20 games, you can start by playing the 300 chip play money sit and gos because they are about the same skill level. Absolutely you have to push this all in because people will call you with ten high and you will be in good shape to take it down. I had one guy call a 1k raise (heads up at the end) after the flop w/ 10-5, he had no draws, no pair, nothing at all, then he hit runner runner straight... Just to give you an idea of how bad the play is at this level and how you can't give credit to anyone's bet.

Raise to 600 on the flop. As played get it in on the turn. This could be a straight, or 2 pair, or tp.

Re: $1.20 Flopped Set on Straight board. Call all-in?
Thanks. I didn't reraise the flop because I was trying to get a couple callers. I intended to raise or reraise on the turn, but the 10 came up and I was lost. I realized afterwards that I should have reraised. The villain showed Q8o for the straight, but I made a full house on the river to win.
