99 in MP deep in a PS 3R
We've whittled down a wide field to about 90 or so. My stack puts me around the middle of the pack. I'm not desperate, but I can't afford to go too long without picking up chips with the blinds at 6k/12k.
I don't know a huge amount about villain. He's been stealing blinds from the CO and button, but I haven't seen him make an lot of EP raises. With his stack, his range can a bit looser than normal, but I'm pretty sure he has some sort of hand to make this raise. My image should be tight. I've won most of my chips without showing down and I've not been involved in a lot of pots. I don't think I've had a showdown in the last hour. With an M of about 5, I'd push this.

Instamuck. Raise is from early position, you are in fairly early position, and you have pretty much no FE. Playing this hand is an example of making the error of playing your cards rahter than the situation.

Re: 99 in MP deep in a PS 3R
You push he is getting like 6k(antes)+6k(SB)+12K(BB)+30k+30k+80k=164k so almost 2 to 1 odds on his call, which means he should pretty much call everything in his raising range. Which means his raising range would have to be like 44-AA,AJ+,KQ or something like that even though I would imagine his opening range is something closer to 88+,AQ+ all in all lay it down. I would rather open push like 72o in CO or something.
BTW I don't have pokerstove at work, I just ballparked ranges. |

I push because he is a large stack and you have to make a move soon. I am willing to take a coinflip and am more willing to do a coinflio before the blinds then after the blinds.

[/ QUOTE ] Calling to gamble is not terrible, but I am not sure if you are ahead of pot odds against an early position raise, even from a big stack, and with several players to act who may have you dominated. I think this is fairly close though. I don't think you need to make a move immediately. You have a good stack for late position blind steals, even after going through the blinds. |

Re: 99 in MP deep in a PS 3R
I wouldn't push in this spot. Your hand is just not good enough and you don't have much FE.

You are ahead versus overcards and there is some possibility big stack is raising with Ax, a lower pp or some other junk. You have some pot odds fromt he blinds and antes. There is also the possibility someone to act has a nice pp. The push is probably slightly cEV-, but I think it is OK if you want to gambel. |
