Default 1/2NL AK hand

Happened to me in vegas

I have AKo

UTG +1 raises it to 12, next player calls, i raise it to 40, folded to UTG +1 who calls, other caller goes all in for 200 total. This is my first hand at the table so no reads, I figure i'm looking at QQ+, fold.

UTG+1 goes crazy yelling at me for not calling. Asked a friend and he was thinking all in had A10 or something.

Good/Bad play?

You may be ahead here, but I would definitely fold this my first hand at the table.

UTG+1 is welcome to call if he wants to know what the guy has that badly.

Depends how much you like to gamble.

I've seen guys at $1/$2 push with KQ, AQ, JJ or worse here, especially in Vegas. Hard to tell with no reads, though.

Unless you're up against AA or KK, you're close to a coin flip, or possibly have dude dominated. Even against KK, you're going to win about one in three times.

I don't think its a bad fold at all, but a call isn't horrible here, I think. Personally, I'd like to have a bigger edge or better likelihood of getting my money in with the best hand preflop. But most likely, if you called here, you'd most likely have even odds to double-up.

If it werent the first hand at the table and I had even a small read on the guy (that he was relatively loose and/or aggressive) then I would probably call but seeing as you know nothing about him and he could be a nut-peddling nit you should probably wait and get a better feel for the table before going to the felt.

AK into 4 bets is suicide, you're at best in a race, I really doubt that you have the villain dominated (that he has a weaker A) and you might even be splitting the pot if you're lucky. Easy fold here. AK is overvalued by most!

With no reads this is an easy fold.

Am I the only one who thinks PF is way overplayed?

[/ QUOTE ]Are you saying that 3 betting with AK is "way overplaying" it?

I would need to have played at the table for a while (to have a feel for this table) or have some kind of read before calling this all-in. You may be ahead but I prefer to pick a better spot to get my money all-in.

UTG+1 can call if he wants too but that's not your problem. I'm not sure why he's yelling at you in that situation. Just play your own game and don't worry about what he said.
