Re: Beat: Larry BIrd
I wasn't questioning your very legitimate love for Larry Bird, I was just wondering if it's even possible to be from the New England area and not like Larry Bird. Even I love him.

Re: Beat: Larry BIrd
"The one thing that always bothered me when I played in the NBA was I really got irritated when they put a white guy on me," Bird said. "I still don't understand why. A white guy would come out (and) I would always ask him: 'What, do you have a problem with your coach? Did your coach do this to you?' And he'd go, 'No,' and I'd say, 'Come on, you got a white guy coming out here to guard me; you got no chance.' ... For some reason, that always bothered me when I was playing against a white guy.
"As far as playing, I didn't care who guarded me -- red, yellow, black," Bird added. "I just didn't want a white guy guarding me. Because it's disrespect to my game." |

im pretty sure any basketball fan would acknowledge the fact that bird was one of the top 5 (top 3 imo, jordan and magic are the others) players of all time. [/ QUOTE ] LOL. I don't know any fan that would rank that as his top 3. Chamberlain has to be there and arguments can be made for Russell and Kareem as well. Jordan and Wilt are 1 and 2. The only deabte is over who is #3. |

[/ QUOTE ] You have Wilt and Russell confused with George Mikan who was actually a foot taller than most and was the reason for the widening of the lane and the creation of the shot clock. |
