Default Live game, buy-in size / how much to bring.

I've gotten into a rather juicy live game.

Blinds are 1/2, min buy-in is 200, and there is no cap.

Action is mostly a straddle, a re straddle to 8 and then a raise to around 35-45.

It seems to be this games play more like a 5/10 game without a straddle, so wouldnt it make sense to buy-in for 1K or more?

Most buy-in for 200-1000, but there is a lot of action, and people rebuy very often. And its not unusual to have 2-3 stacks of 2000-3000 (or more), and 10K+ on the table is standard.

So I was thinking to buy-in for 500-1K at first, bring around 6K (in case I need to add, if a fish goes very deep).

Am I totally off here?

Default Re: Live game, buy-in size / how much to bring.

if you're the best player at the table (with any range of stack sizes, of course) and you have a deep roll, buy to cover everyone else.

if bankroll size is an issue, divide your roll in 10 or 20 (depending on risk tolerance/expectation) and let that be your buyin amount.
