Default You play the dealer...

Simple situation, but I'm curious what words others would use to soothe a player.

Showdown at the river. 1 seat turns over his hand. 8 seat turns over/tosses his hand in such a manner that it lands on it's ends and bounds over eventually landing face up slightly touching a card in the muck for a winning full house. Pot pushed to player 8.

Seat 1 to dealer: "That hand hit the muck, I should have said something and had it killed."
Dealer: "Well, as long as it lands face up it doesn't matter, cards speak."
Seat 1 in a "omg r u jk?" tone of voice: "No it doesn't!"

What exact words do you respond with?

My response in white

"Well sir, I don't mean to start an argument with you, if you like we could ask the floor what their ruling would be."

Easiest solution is to call the floor.

According to Robert's Rules of Poker:

Cards thrown into the muck may be ruled dead. However, a hand that is clearly identifiable may be retrieved and ruled live at management's discretion if doing so is in the best interest of the game. An extra effort should be made to rule a hand retrievable if it was folded as a result of incorrect information given to the player.

My response: "I'll call the floor for you but I dont think they're going to give the losing hand the pot on a technicality such as this, but FLOOOOR table X!"

But we use numbers, not letters!

Since you asked, off the top of my head:

"I'm pretty sure. We can ask the floor if you like?"

FWIW: After I told him that I didn't want to start an argument, he paused, then about 10 seconds later as I'm dealing the next round of cards, I hear from my left, "But I like arguing."

I smiled.

Sorry sir, would you rather I or the floor kick you in the nuts?

"Some casinos have a magic muck that kills any hand that touches it. We don't."
