Default Tunica in July

Being the dedicated best friend that I am, I am taking my buddy to Tunica next month for his wedding present. We live in the Cincinnati area and thought it might be a good time to check it out.

Anyway, wondering if you guys could share with me some advise on what the best casinos are, where the best rooms are, best value, what to stay away from, what to check out...I'm not having much luck finding good solid info on the net for some reason.

Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated...

its the Horseshoe and it isn't even close.

The reason you are having trouble finding information is, there is absolutely nothing there worth talking about other than Casinos, Cottonfields and Kudzu.

The poker is great, the Horseshoe will feed you really well and if you book far enough in advance, you can get a significant discount on your hotel room if you book your hotel room through the poker room.

It will be HOT, like really HOT and the humidity will be so high that when those giant mosquitos fly in to take a bite, they create a wake like a speedboat.

Steam..thanks for the input! A few questions...

1. Gimme some highlights on what makes the Shoe the best?
2. What is spread at the Shoe (any o/8?)?
3. How are the rooms?

Also, how are things goign at Caesars? You're missed at Belterra! I'm the guy you met at the 2-4 table ("I'm sooted!") right when the room opened around 1.5 yrs ago.

I was at Argosy for a little while Monday. I haven't been to Belterra in a long time.

The Horsehoe has good action and free food. They recently remodeled their hotel and the rooms are nice. The poker room is really nice. I am going to say fifteen tables but I may be off by a few.

I haven't been to the Shoe in over a year so my information is dated. I understand their O/8 is tight but I haven't played and I don't know how often it goes.

Chipr777 might jump in and get us up to speed. I remember him posting that NL was taking over, which is the same at Caesar's IN.

If you go to the Shoe for poker, you will be happy. Inexpensive rooms, free food, free drinks (just like Vegas) and off the hook action. I think the free liquor might influence the action.

If you don't like the Shoe, walk next door to the Goldstrike. Their poker room is well within the acceptaqble range.

Yes, check out the Gold Strike. It's been a while since I've been there, but they have some good tourneys, including a 4 am Early Bird. They've spread O 8ob at the Strike. Getting food comps at both is pretty easy once they recognize you a bit. Shoe has more frequent 10-20 and often has 20-40.

As usual Steam is on it.

Horseshoe is awesome because they treat you like gold. If you're playing all you really need to do is ask for a comp. They might limit you to a comp for 2 per shift.

As far as poker action it's there nonstop. Getting a room should be fairly easy but it seems the way to go about getting a room changes fairly often. So I suggest giving them a call and finding out their procedure for getting a "poker rate" room. i think it's about $35 on weekdays and $45 on weekends.

You should be able to find tournaments and plenty of action.

Book your room as soon as you can. They tend to sell out quick.

It runs every 30 minutes, IIRC.

Chipr777, I was wondering why rooms booked the the horseshoe poker room are being booked at the grand. Is this just a temporary thing? It actually worked out pretty good for me this weekend since my sister has a room at the Grand and we're all going to the Price is Right saturday.
