definite check-shove.

You don't mind it checking through but you want to be the one putting the last bet in if possible. A check-shove will get some jacks to fold for their tournament life (they will irrationally put you on the overcard that fell) and it won't let the villain shove over the top of you with 45/A4 type hand. If he does bet A4/45 (a bad bet) you might be able to get a fold out of him where he would shove over the top of you if you simply led out.

yea i check raised all in after his 450 bet. i felt it was correct but it also seemed transparent. he instacalled with J9o which was a good call but i felt he made the call for the wrong reasons because he seemed bad.

im 34% ish vs his hand which kinda sucks but i suppose he will check a lot or maybe bet really small in which case i can call. so even though a player like him may instacall here with J9o he isnt always betting the turn so it evens out.

What do we do here on the river if it goes check-check on turn and the river card doesn't help us. Are we going to make a stab at the pot? If so, what is a good bet size?

I usually feel lost when this happens...your thoughts are appreciated.

Ham,
Despite your in depth explanation I still can't see how this even close to as good as check-shoving

I'd bet a little over 1/2 the pot (400), to try to see a cheap river or (hopefully) get a fold.

If he shoves, I call getting ~2.1-1
