Memphis Grizzlies vs. New Jersey Nets (NBA)
Nov 27, 2007 7:35 PM EST

Play: New Jersey Nets

1 Unit Take New Jersey -5, Memphis comes into this game just 1-5 SU on the road this season with opponents averaging 106.2 ppg against them. The Nets are coming off a huge SU road win as 6.5 point dogs over the Lakers and I look for them to build on this win at home Tuesday night. The Nets are 2-0 SU and ATS in their last 2 meetings at home against Memphis and the Nets opponents are shooting just 42.2% against them at home this season. The Grizzlies opponents are shooting 48.9% against them on the road and I look for the Nets to raise this number tonight as they are shooting very well over their last couple of games. Take the Nets to cover this small number at home

UTEP ? over New Mexico State

The lone loss on the season for Texas-El Paso came at the hands of Texas A&M by just five points. A&M has since proved its worth with dominant wins over Washington and Ohio State. UTEP also has a convincing win over Texas A&M Corpus-Christi, a NCAA Tournament team from a year ago. New Mexico State is just 2-4 on the season and although the schedule looks tough at first glance, teams like West Virginia and Texas are not as strong this season as in the past. The Aggies were really not competitive in most of the losses and opponents are shooting at a very high percentage. Look for the Miners to deliver the win in this early season match-up.

Tony Mathews

Matchup: Memphis Grizzlies vs. New Jersey Nets

Selection: New Jersey Nets -5.5 (-110)

Explanation: We will lay the points with the New Jersey Nets as they face-off against the Memphis Grizzlies in Tuesday's NBA contest.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been a horrible team on the road this season (1-5 record - allowing opponents to score an average of 106.2 points per game). The Memphis Grizzlies might be coming off a win, however, when coming off a win the Memphis Grizzlies are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games (dating back to last season).

On the other hand, the New Jersey Nets are starting to heat up after their bad start. The New Jersey Nets are 3-0 SU and ATS in their last 3 games, and now have Carter back in the lineup which will help this team out a lot (a guy of Carter's talent brings so much to a team).

The New Jersey Nets are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against teams with a losing record. The New Jersey Nets are also 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games against Western Conference teams.

The New Jersey Nets have also already proven they are superior compared to the Memphis Grizzlies. This is shown by the New Jersey Nets being 3-0 SU & ATS in their last 3 meetings against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Take the New Jersey Nets -5.5!

Today we're on the pro hardwood for a selection on the underdog Sonics at the Lakers.

Two struggling teams square off in this matchup, so with both teams having trouble getting a cover, we?ve got to put our money behind the underdog ? especially catching this many points.
Play Seattle as nothing seems to faze rookie Kevin Durant. The Sonics? rookie is averaging 19 points a game and put up 25 points and six rebounds in Sunday?s 116-101 home loss to the Spurs.
Both teams have lost four straight ATS but the way the Lakers defense looked in the second half of Sunday?s 102-100 loss to the Nets, there?s just no way we can back that team. The Lakers were seven-point favorites and sitting on a nice big halftime lead. They came out and gave up 65 points and it was like they weren?t even on the defensive end of the court.
Seattle went 2-0-2 ATS against the Lakers last season with both pushes coming in the Staples Center. We expect big things from the Sonics tonight, not only Durant, but from the supporting cast as well to get pumped up to play in front of the Hollywood faithful.
The Lakers defense is non-existent so scoring shouldn?t be a problem for the Sonics. Take those points and play Seattle in this one.

The two win Chicago Bulls return home tonight badly needing a win. No better opponent than to get one against than this Hawks team they face tonight.
The Bulls managed to only pick up one win during their most recent trip. Tonight as mentioned above they have a great chance to jump into the win column. The Bulls have beaten this Atlanta team 11 straight contests.
The Hawks have dropped 17 of the last 19 when playing away from Atlanta.
Play the Bulls to get back on track tonight at home.

VEGAS SPORTS PICS

Indiana Hoosiers - 10 over Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Georgia Tech (3-2) which lost its opener, at home, to mid-major UNC-Greensboro 83-74, lost much of its offensive production from last season and its defense has been a liability so far this season. No.15 Indiana (4-1) returned three starters from last season's 21-11 team which included an NCAA first round 70-57 win over Gonzaga. Hoosiers have won their last 20 home games. They're 7-3 ATS last 10 vs. the ACC.

Wisconsin Badgers + 8 over (at) Duke Blue Devils

No.7 Duke (6-0) which lost to VCU 79-77 in last season's NCAA first round, won its ACC-Big Ten challenge game last season posting a 54-51 home win over Indiana. No.20 Wisconsin, which has opened 5-0 for the first time in ten years, is 25-3 last 28 November games. The Badgers, who have outrebounded opponents 217-134 this season, will also hold a height advantage over Duke. They're 5-0 ATS last 5 vs. the ACC.

Burns NBA

BULLS (-7 or better)

Game: Atlanta Hawks vs. Chicago Bulls Game Time: 11/27/2007 8:35:00 PM Prediction: Chicago Bulls Reason: I'm laying the points with CHICAGO. The Hawks have the better record. However, the Bulls are playing at home and I still believe that they're the significantly better team. The Bulls should be happy to be back home and thrilled to be playing their first game against a team from the Southeast Division, as they were 31-15 SU and 28-17-1 (62%) ATS against teams from that division the past two seasons. The Bulls have dominated the Hawks for a lot longer than that though! In fact, they've won 11 straight series meetings, going a highly profitable 9-2 ATS. The most recent meeting here at Chicago resulted in a one-sided 106-81 romp. The Hawks have begun this road trip with wins at Minnesota and Miami. However, this is a tougher venue and the Hawks haven't swept a three game road trip in roughly a decade. The Hawks were 12-29 on the road last season while the Bulls were 31-10 at home. I expect things to return to "normal" with the highly motivated Bulls recording a much-needed one-sided victory. *NBA Blowout GOM

UNDER sonics/lakers (212 or better)

Game: Seattle SuperSonics vs. Los Angeles Lakers Game Time: 11/27/2007 10:35:00 PM Prediction: under Reason: I feel that this total is too high and I'm playing on the Sonics and Lakers to finish UNDER the total. The Sonics obviously don't play the best defense in the league and that's the primary reason for such a big over/under number tonight. However, their games still average "only" 208 points. The Lakers have averaged 206 in their games but a lower 202.6 here in LA. Yes, the Sonics played a high-scoring game against the Spurs in their last game. However, in addition to that helping tonight's over/under line to be a couple of points higher, note that Seattle has already seen the UNDER go a profitable 6-1 this season after allowing 105 or more points in their previous game. The Sonics last road game was also high-scoring. However, they've still seen three of their last five road games finish with less than 200 points. Meanwhile, the Lakers have seen their last four home games all produce 202 combined points or less. The Lakers, currently listed as 11 point favorites, have shown a recent tendency to go "under" the total when listed as large favorites, as the UNDER is 5-1 the last six times the Lakers were favored by greater than eight points. One of those five "unders" came from the most recent meeting between these two teams when they combined for 207 points (total was 210) last April. Look for tonight's game to be lower scoring than expected once again and for the final combined score to stay beneath the generous total. *Western Conf. TOM
