25NL, playing KK, line check
Was only on the table one orbit when this hand came up, but had shown down AA my 1st hand that I got dealt in BB and had raised with. I had QQ the very next hand and pushed it preflop, but didnt' get called after flop. Although the player was relatively short stacked, I felt I also had to worry about the player behind me.

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
If you are going to make this kind of move with KK PF (I would rather see a raise this first time around), your reraise has to be something more than 4, BB is short and obviously likes his hand. I would go for about 5-6, try to drive out mp2, and call a shove.
Not really sure what you should be doing on the flop. Folding seems weak, but your behind here a ton. Pot I think is to big to fold. |

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
I think Vimes is dead on here. I think something like 6 is better if you're going to limp/reraise. I think that also puts BB in a shove/fold mode given he has so little behind. I might even shove preflop, but I'm not entirely sure that's the best line. It looks like BB has less than 1/2 a PSB behind, but with MP2 left to act, I think this is a fold.

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
Hard to fold due to BB shortstack, however you are probably beat by AJ/AQ/AK.

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
Given recent hand history, i would prefer you b/3b preflop.
As played, LRR needs to be bigger and you should be happy to get it in PF against 2 smaller stacks. Flop spot sucks. There is 14 in the pot and BB only has 7 to go. But with MP2 left to act, i think the fold is ok. |

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
Agree, if you get fancy with KK UTG+1 and get lucky enough to get a raise and a reraise, you have to put in a real raise. I'd even put in something like 8, hoping to fold out MP villain and let BB just push over the top of you with his last 2 bucks.
Against two opponents, I just fold to BBs flop bet, that's AK most of the time and MP is still to act after you... |

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
It sounds like you guys are saying I just want to be heads-up with KK postflop, so I should raise out everyone but the shortstack. I guess my theory at the time I raised was not to drive everyone out, but to put in a value raise, and not raise too much in case an A hit the flop.

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
Just raise it up preflop and don't get fancy. As played, raise to 6 preflop, fold on the flop.

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
echoing everyone's sentiments, if you LRR, raise it larger, you don't want to "value raise" anyone in, especially OOP basically giving them odds to hit their ace on the flop. but since thats part of the reason you raised so little, your plan worked and an ace hit so now it's time to fold

Re: 25NL, playing KK, line check
Wait a second, you limped KK UTG+1?
lol.... you do realize thats one of the few hands you are almost obligated to raise in that spot, right? Don't get cute at NL25. Raise it up and put any shortie resistance all in. Straightforward poker is winning poker (at these levels) |
