Default Worst remake ever.

When talking about worst re-makes, should you consider the gap between the two films, or just the level of awfulness of the re-make?

I think that Swept Away might win the title in either category.

Decent choice, although I didn't think the original was stupendous either.

I'll have to think of one ...

In the spirit of TLDR, I'd like to encourage people to put some thoughts along with their nominations.

Okay, how 'bout the 1998 remake of Psycho. (with Vince Vaughn)

A shot-for-shot remake of a classic. I mean, what's the point? And about the first film where Vince Vaughn doesn't play ... er, you know, the same character he always plays. (which, at first glance, might be seen as a positive, but doesn't work out)

Willie WOnka? (I havent seen the remake, im just assuming the 2nd one falls well short of the Gene Wilder child-scaring flick.)

While not a great film, the remake of WW&TCF was not a bad film, and certainly doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the thread as titled.

I loved the beginning though.

The answer will be Butch & Sundance if damon and affleck get their way. Bastards.

A vote for the dreadful Planet of the Apes remake staring Mark Wahlberg
