If she were really embarrassed about her financial situation, she wouldn't have claimed brokeage; she would have come up with a different excuse instead. It takes guts to discuss finances and job situations with someone you don't know, not embarrassment.

VOX, go have brunch by yourself. Leave her a facebook message that it was still awesome. Similarly, go tubing without her. Obviously it is too late for brunch today, but you were pinning and wanting that eggs benny.
Here is Spooks theory on dates. Find something that you want to do, ask her along. If you get stood up, you are still doing something that you wanted to do and enjoy it.
