Default ...waiting for 127.0.0.1

Hey guys. I'm hoping maybe one of you can help me out with this problem.

Whenever I surf to a page, regardless of which page it might be, it never fully completes loading in my browser. All the text and graphics are there and everything, but the little wheel thing keeps spinning on my tab bar, and there's always a message at the bottom of the screen that says "waiting for 127.0.0.1" or "Transferring data from ________ ..." The little progress bar on the status bar is 99% filled, but that's as far as it gets. It's not a big deal I guess but it's driving me a little batty.

I'm using Firefox 2, Win XP, DSL.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure... how would I tell if I do?

I'm also running Kerio's firewall if that makes any difference.

Check your hosts file. Perhaps some legitimate spyware/adware blocker is redirecting traffic to your localhost.

Since you apparently don't have a webserver running on your computer -- it hangs.

Also check your DNS server addresses are correct.

I checked my host file and the only thing in there without a # sign in front of it was 127.0.0.1. I'm afraid I don't know much about that, but I didnt see anything in there besides that.

I also checked the DNS setting, but it was set to automatic and I didn't want to mess with it.

Hey fellas.

I ran a spyware check a little bit ago and it turned up about 30 tracking cookies. I deleted all of them and so far, *knock on wood*, my problem has gone away. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Thanks for all your help.

The entry for 127.0.0.1 should be followed by the name "localhost". If it's followed by the url of the website that you couldn't access, that is your problem (part of it anyway, you still wouldn't know what changed it).
