Default Logmein Security.

Looking to head around the world and remote control to my PC in Ireland remotely from Web cafes etc with a view to playing poker. Just wondering is Logmein secure? ie. Is there a chance that the web site (in this case LOGMEIN) can track my key strokes (ultimately cleaning out my Poker acnt). Probably not goin to be possible but need re-assurance.Also would web cafes (have rarely used them) have an issue with downloading the java applet required in order to control the machine. Finally could Party themselves investigate my acnt for unusual access from a weird TCPIP address. Lots of questions...Lots of places to see ...thx for the help in advance!

I've used LogMeIn myself and haven't had any security issues at all. Depending on the Net Cafe, I suppose they could lock down the machines tightly enough that you can't access LogMeIn, but the LogMeIn FAQs would probably address that better than anyone here.

From Party's perspective, you would be playing from your normal IP wherever your computer is located.

The biggest concern I would have would be having a keylogger sitting on the machine used in the Net Cafe, since they'd now be able to log in to your machine through the LogMeIn account you accessed.

Right but the problem wasn't really with Logmein...they use 256 bit encryption between the host and the remote computer. The problem was that Goldtoe's Logmein password was picked up by someone else and it was also on a work laptop, not a public computer.

Just pointing this out for the OP. Logmein should be secure enough, but you just need to know that the computer you are using to enter your password is 100% clean of keyloggers etc. If you are using your own laptop you should be just fine.

lol BPN, thanks for the page - sorry I didn't hear it though, I was listening to my iPod.

my thread is still somewhat informative to show that it CAN happen, but it turns out my PC was not accessed through LogMeIn as I later saw through their logs. it ended up being that I had VNC installed and forgot about it. there was a bug with the ver I had installed that allowed people to connect without a password ... and that's what happened.

it was dumb of me though - I had originally installed VNC and opened the port on my router for a friend for one day access and forgot to close it. I am still banned from FTP and Stars completely. it's pretty sick.

but anywho - like LuckyTx said, even if my LogMeIn account was compromised, it wasn't LogMeIn's fault - it would have been because the computer I was using had some sort of keylogger to get my LogMeIn credentials. so to answer your question OP, LogMeIn is secure, very secure (256-bit encryption) but you must be careful of what PC you are using it on.
