NLCASH .5/1 - Top pair crappy kicker, turns FD, rivers 2pr
Villain reraised and called a shove with AJ on a 9 high flop earlier, same deal with Q8 on T97. His raising range preflop is pretty standard. Post flop he is a bit random but kind of a nutcase with his draws. I've been taking down a lot of these mid-size pots lately so I assume he is pretty anxious for payback.
I think I butchered this hand pretty badly. PokerStars Game #12401177229: Hold'em No Limit ($0.50/$1.00) - 2007/10/02 - 18:45:56 (ET) Table 'Ducrosa' 2-max Seat #1 is the button Seat 1: JnyRcktFngr ($201.70 in chips) Seat 2: xSCWx ($181.40 in chips) JnyRcktFngr: posts small blind $0.50 xSCWx: posts big blind $1 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to xSCWx [J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] JnyRcktFngr: raises $2 to $3 xSCWx: calls $2 *** FLOP *** [J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] xSCWx: checks JnyRcktFngr: bets $4 xSCWx: raises $9 to $13 JnyRcktFngr: raises $22 to $35 xSCWx: calls $22 *** TURN *** [J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] [6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] xSCWx: checks JnyRcktFngr: bets $49 xSCWx: calls $49 *** RIVER *** [J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] [T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]] xSCWx: bets $94.40 and is all-in -- I'm pretty sure I butchered this hand. I figure his hand range here generally consists of a flush draw, an overpair, AJ(?), low 2 pair, or a set. Flop: I think I should have folded here. Turn: I think after calling the flop I have to be calling the turn here. My hand improved, his almost definitely didn't. River: I figure I am calling an all in here anyways, so I may as well make sure he can't check behind with anything I beat. Revised hand look good? |

i am def folding this flop
pushing this turn is a no brainer for me, even this deep as played i'm calling the river and usually losing to a set |

Re: NLCASH .5/1 - Top pair crappy kicker, turns FD, rivers 2pr
I really don't like the flop c/r especially 200bbs deep. If he does anything but fold you hate your life on 50%+ of turn cards. Just c/c and see what happens on the turn.
Given the flop action, the turn seems fine. CRAI only seems like a good idea if you want to make sure you're getting all your money in behind. I'm torn on the river bet, but I think I like it. His hand looks like an overpair/set/2pr, and your hand looks a lot like a flush draw. So if you think he's likely to check behind with the majority of those hands on the river (I'd say he probably will), then I like your bet. |

Re: NLCASH .5/1 - Top pair crappy kicker, turns FD, rivers 2pr
yep.. butcher sounds about right.
first you dont want to raise the pot OOP with a hand like that ..so i would just ck call the flop seeing how aggressive he has been.. turn u could lead little less than 3/4 or u can ck call .. river you might put in a value bet or if u think hell make a stab u can ck call. and if he shoves on your value bet... thats a tough one |

I don't mind the flop C/R as you can't let your opponents just always think they can fire a free bullet on you. Once he raises, I fold. If he 3 bets a FD in position, then good for him.

[/ QUOTE ] I think the scare card issue should be more of an argument in favor of a check raise on this flop than against it. Probably 90% of the time on this flop facing a cbet you are ahead, and check/raising is the only way to punish the guys who cbet almost every flop. I don't find that I get called here very often. |

Re: NLCASH .5/1 - Top pair crappy kicker, turns FD, rivers 2pr
Providing you have been actively checkraising flops with a healthy range, I like your play on all streets and would call river vs villain you describe. I do think your line would've been better had you been shallower.
