Default Mad Men

The first episode was terrific. Stylish, time-warpish, funny, free of irony and very entertaining. It hasn't maintained that level of quality and there are a number of potentially craptastic developments IMO.

In particular (semi-spoilers if you haven't watched through Ep 10) the whole fake identity thing seems likely to suck balls. The wife's psychological state managed to go from mildly interesting to deadeningly boring inside of maybe 20 minutes of screen time. The male junior agency staff haven't developed at all. And, my God, the beatniks. Could they possibly have been more 2-dimensional? I think I'm about 2 episodes away from giving up.

What are people's thoughts about how the series is developing?

since i can't start a post...

how come nobody is talking about pushing daisies? what a great concept, and the acting is really quirky/superb.

the girl is really cute as well. i'm not sure how they're going to progress the storyline without compromising the basic premise of the show, but i'm excited.

Effang - I made a post about Pushing Daisies here. Check out that thread. As an aside, it probably has the most buzz for a premiere One Hour on the Big 4 network fall launch slate.

DaveR - not much to add except I've been told by numerous people that I should watch this series. Unfortunately it appears my OnDemand doesn't have the pilot anymore (weird, huh?) so I'm waiting for a friend to get me a copy of the pilot so I can watch the eps in order. I will report back!

Daver,

Excellent show, though after a few episodes it risks getting a bit repetitive and perhaps a bit too over-the-top with storylines.

Haven't read your whole post, since I haven't watched the latest episode. Basically, I love this show right now, but think it's at a bit of a turning point where it could easily become sort of boring or really great drama.
