$10NL: Trip Kings
This hand didn't stick out to me when I played it, but while reviewing my session it stood out to me as one that I may have really misplayed. Any suggestions on how best to play the turn and river here? Stats on this player are 47/7/3, and I really don't remember the exact read I had on him, as this hand didn't grab my attention until later.

Re: $10NL: Trip Kings
calling turn is ok, but i think he got trip kings as well, but worse a kicker.
raise the turn and try to stick it in on the river. |

Re: $10NL: Trip Kings
Any thoughts on how much I should be fearing a straight or a boat vs how much I should be trying to charge a heart draw or a weaker king? It turned out that the guy had total air and was just being a donk, but if we pretend that he was a competent player, what should my primary concerns be in this hand?

Re: $10NL: Trip Kings
Dont let those guys take away the control over the pot.
Flop looks good. Turn is ok, but just because he could be tiny-vbetting his trips. Raising in this spot will give you the opportunity to stick it in on the river. I wouldnt fear a straight that much, since the only one that came in is AQ or Q9, and if he got it, then ... |

Re: $10NL: Trip Kings
raise the turn, he bets 0.9 into a 4.25 pot, and if he calls, probably just check/call river

Re: $10NL: Trip Kings
I would lead out on the turn rather than check/calling or check/raising. You probably have the best hand so get the money in there and give villain less of a chance to suck out on the river.

Re: $10NL: Trip Kings
I would bet turn and then check/call any reasonably sized (half the pot or less) bet on the river. Reasoning is essentially what was said above: if he's got trip kings here, he's definitely sticking around, whereas checking give him the possibility for a free card.

Re: $10NL: Trip Kings
I would pot the flop, there might be draws out there and I wanna give them a bad price, since people call anyway.
I dislike your turn play. Way too passive for 10NL. People hang in with AT, 2 hearts, AQ and Kx. You are way ahead of that range. I try to get as much as possible in on the turn either by betting or by c/r. I prefer betting. C/c is way too passive for 10 NL. I think, in general, you should try to play everything that's better than TPTK for stacks at 10NL. |
