^^^ Lol, that hand is soooo old school. The irony is that if villain min bet the flop, the turn and the river he'd usually show up with AA or a set

hahaha amazing read, you've either played him before or seen his type 1000 times. He always would minbet monsters and grossly overbet the pot any time he thought he was beat. And the beauty of it was he never adjusted. I think maybe one time I saw him bet like that when he had the goods. If I'm beat on that hand, it's most likely by something like 77.

Now I've worked my way back to +3ptbb/100 still playing a somewhat passive and unorthodox 18/4 style, but it obviously won't be the last time I make changes to my game

So what is your problem with raising? Also, March 2006 was not the 'great old days' of Party Poker. There were much greater days.

I have zero problem with raising. My game just didn't naturally develop that way. We all have our comfort zones I suppose. I just kind of do what works for me. I think for the majority of players a TAG approach of something like 15/8 works best in order to be profitable. Had I not found a way to win playing 18/4, I would've had to try something else. Odds are, I will at some point have to try something else. However, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? Like many regulars, my goal isn't to become the greatest player the game has ever seen. I want to make a modest profit and I'll be very happy if I can accomplish that.

While March 2006 may not have been the greatest days of party, that was the time period where my roll had actually built to being able to play 1/2 and 2/4 NL consistently. I wish I could've gotten in sooner but I just didn't take up poker that early. The player in that hand I posted though was playing at a -85ptbb/100 clip however over the 4k hands I had on him, and he was on nearly every day. Compared to the way things are today, those were still the good old days to me.

March 2006 was pretty damn good in the Party days. When I played there it was like printing money.

im sure party has been great at many times, I'm thinking of 2004 or so, the year after the Moneymaker revolution.

So many people were straight ballin' then knowing 1/10th of what they do now.

There's nothing more demoralizing than getting ready to start a session and glancing at the old party poker icon above the full tilt symbol you are double clicking on....

what does anyone think of JimThaJackal? i may have spelled his name wrong but that's pretty much it. I have like 8k hands on him and he's a big loser, super aggro. seems to love 3betting me. anyone tangle with him?

[/ QUOTE ]

Old 100NL reg who I think is playing more 200NL now. He's a pretty effing good player, IMO...super aggro and big loser are two phrases I never would have associated with him based on hands I've seen. I don't know if you're talking about strictly 1/2, but I have him as a substantial winner in a big sample of .50/1 hands.
