Brag: Ate food that Dustin Pedroia and Mike Lowell Paid For
TR from camping out/watching games 6 and 7 at Fenway, Bill Simmons running diary style.
1:47 PM, Friday 10/19: Call from Friend (conveniently named Cleveland). His brother is in line at Fenway. Do I want to go. The answer is obvious. 2:44 PM: Arrive at Fenway. 4th group in line, about 25th or so from the front. 3:55 PM: Strangers roll up and donate us their leftovers. Shake our hands. 3:55:30: Realize that "strangers" are Lowell and Pedroia. They ate mexican food before their workout, and decided to donate it to the fans. Immediately called everyone I knew. 4:56 PM: Opened first beer. 11:44 PM: Homeless people converge on tarp/campsite for the first time. Fended off by closing our eyes and saying "I'm sleeping" over and over again. 12:21 AM: Cracked-out homeless woman starts talking to us about her ex-lesbian lover. She's also not wearing shoes. Evidently Tina (the lover in question) is not nearby. When asked where she was, the only answer was "VIVIAN" which was then followed by her running away. 1:36 AM (10/20): Went across the street to pee in the parking lot. Was impressed by the guts of the squirrel crossing the street until I realized it wasn't a squirrel. 2:50 AM: The rats are terrifying. We're out of Busch Light and into the "lets find new people who have beer" stage. 5:25 AM: Start of $10 buyin poker tournament. 10 people in, I'm the 4th one out due to A10 not holding to AJ on an A-4-10 flop. 6:12 AM: 3 McDonalds EggMcMuffins before bed. Dogfish Head ale on the walk over. 8 AM: Sleep. 9:49 AM: Wake to Boston FD blowing horns at me. 10:12 AM: Dunkin Donuts Bagel for breakfast. 1:12 PM (10/20) First drink. 2PM-4:30 Lots more drinks 4:45 PM: Fenway staff hands out Vouchers. We're in. 4:50 PM: Cleveland has to pee. I shield him with my body and use it as conversation starter with hot girl in line in front of us. I have to go pass out. TBcontinued tomorrow. GO SOX. PS-- I'm told I was on TV.. In the 8th, jumping up and down in celebration.

really don't get why lowell and pedroia would be eating dinner together at some mexican joint. also don't get why lowell and pedroia would acutally have to pay for dinner at some mexican joint.
its pretty shocking that fenway is the only stadium in the us that doesn't have rows of toilets sitting in surrounding parking lots. strike that, some masshole got drunk, pissed in public and was showing jumping bones in the stands. not surprised at all. I can't wait for the trip report where some guy has a ticket to be sitting in the middle of the coke bottle but didn't go cause he had to see about a girl. haven't heard that one yet.

Which, while a hefty sum for most of us, is not much for a guy like him! He is arb eligible next year, though.
