Josh Towers is terrible. I worked as a batboy for his AAA team 5 years ago, and he went something like 0-9 with an 8 ERA and would still be messing around in the clubhouse wacking tape around with a golf club a half hour before each start. I have no idea how he's pitched in the majors as much as he has.

I do love that Benitez has hung on to win this poll against a guy who has blown 2 saves in the last week to blow a playoff spot. That's tough to overcome, but he's pissed off enough fan bases to do it.

I agree Hoffman shoulda come in earlier. Durron and I were chatting about it, is anyone else suprised Corpas didn't pitch another inning?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah..Hoffman prolly should of come in earlier. As for Corpas going another inning, well it's a no-win situation if the Padres lose for Black. If he doesn't bring in Hoffman, everyone would be.. ummm WTF, why didn't he bring in Hoffman.

But yeah, Corpas looked good.

Batboy for a baseball team is a frickin sweet job. Yeah Towers is probably just as worse, it's amazing how these guys get blown up EVERY single time they come out.

It's really not close. He single-handedly cost the Phils Game 4 and 6 even with everything else that happened, if he got 1 more out in those games Phils win 4-2 instead of losing series 4-2.

Saddest thing about this? This was the high point of the season for the Mets.

hey benitez's clutchness is underated
why just look at game 2 of the 2000 nlds where the mets took a
4-1 lead into the 9th and benitez was able to earn the win and get the mets back into the series

GIANTS 9TH: Bonds doubled; BENITEZ REPLACED LEITER (PITCHING);
Kent singled [Bonds stayed at second]; Burks flied to right;
SNOW BATTED FOR MARTINEZ; Snow homered [Bonds scored, Kent
scored]; Aurilia grounded out (shortstop to first); Estalella
popped to shortstop; 3 R, 3 H, 0 E, 0 LOB. Mets 4, Giants 4.

New York Mets IP H R ER BB SO HR
Leiter 8 5 2 2 3 6 0
Benitez W(1-0) 1 3 2 2 0 0 1
Franco SV(1) 1 0 0 0 0 1 0
Totals 10 8 4 4 3 7 1

Gotta Love Win Loss record as a stat.

Agreed.

Additionally, I consider World Series losing walk-off homers as carrying monstrous weight in this comparison.

BTW, expect the people who don't understand the word generation to drop in with their, "ZOMG HE IS OLDZ AND NOT IN THIS GENERATION" comments any time now.
