Heh, they still aren't as good as they were in the golden age of The Simpsons, but the last 2 seasons have been much much better.

Well, it's not surprising if the movie sucks, since it seems that almost every TV show that busts out a feature film does so after it has already "jumped the shark", sometimes several excruciating years later. There are many examples of this. TV shows' movies always get made during their descent.

The Simpsons is sort of like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from about 1985 on. I mean, he was still one of the best ever but he was a shadow of himself and most of us remember bald/goggled Kareem who was only good for a meek double-double at best, and not the guy that terrorized the NBA throughout the entire 70s and into the early 80s.

The Simpsons is more like Michael Jordan on the Wizards. Some people, including himself thought he still had it, but most people figured out that he was pretty much washed up. It's not even one of the better shows on TV anymore.
