Re: UEFA Team of the Year- Who\'s Your Starting XI?
Your starting right back:
Seriously, that nobody has put him in is a massive, massive, oversight. Also, Juande Ramos should probably be the best manager, though I'm a bit biased Biased or unbiased, I don't see how Daniel Alves could be out of the lineup given his amazing UEFA Cup and Supercup run last year. He was outstanding player of the UEFA Cup, the cup final, and the Supercup final. |

[ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure Brazil was playing more of a 4-3-2-1 or 4-4-1-1. [/ QUOTE ] More like a 4-2-2-2. The narrow midfield should work with Brazil's wing-back attacking style since it (theoretically) opens the wings for Roberto Carlos and Cafu. I think Brazil's problems in the WC had more to do with using Juninho as a holding midfielder, playing an out of form Ronaldo, and frankly just some bad luck. |

Re: UEFA Team of the Year- Who\'s Your Starting XI?
Using the nominee list by position they gave:
GK Gianluigi Buffon RB Willy Sagnol CB Fabio Cannavaro CB John Terry LB Eric Abidal RM Steven Gerrard CM Torsten Frings LM Ronaldinho CAM Kaka F Thierry Henry F Miroslav Klose Coach Frank Rijkaard Though a number of the picks were pretty up in the air, or complete toss-ups between a couple players which came down to personal preference. |

More like a 4-2-2-2. [/ QUOTE ] I thought they were dropping Robinho (when he played) back a bit from a full striker position? Admittedly I didn't get to see as much of Brazil as I wanted to. |

Re: UEFA Team of the Year- Who\'s Your Starting XI?

Your list seems heavy on World Cup standouts. I think the UEFA poll is supposed to reflect performance in Euro competitions (the domestic leagues + Champions League). [/ QUOTE ] According to uefa.com, "The players were selected on the strength of their performances for club and country in 2006. " As far as my team being top heavy with World Cup standouts, I agree. World Cup performance was heavily weighted as a personal criterion for me. Others would weigh different factors more heavily. Also, for people criticizing my team chemistry, this isn't the team I would pick if it actually had to play together. I'm not sure exactly who I would choose if this were the case, but I would go with one striker (Henry or Eto'o) and play Ronaldinho as a "10" like how Barcalona uses him. Watching Ronaldinho play in the role he did in Germany makes me want to vomit and/or punch Carlos Alberto Parreira in the face. |
