Mom Finds Drug Stash-Trip Report

So I'm a college student who went home to live with his parents for the summer (mistake #1).

For my return trip I decide to bring back an ounce of weed for pesonal consumption (and to give to a few friends) and an eight-ball of coke (for friends). (mistake #2)

Well evidently I "mis- underestimated" how much an ounce of marijuana smells (misktake #3). My mom is in my room putting away clothes and my cat follows her in. Apparently I have a drug-sniffing cat in my household and she immediately goes into my closet and starts smelling around. My mom figures out the object of my cat's interest and discovers my $400 stash, cocaine and all.

An akward conversation ensues. I explain that the cocaine is for a friend (without naming names)and that I agree that it was stupid to do such a favor for a friend.

In regards to the weed, my argument (although more eloquently phrased) was basically "Ya I smoke weed, I get good grades, I haven't been arrested, I have a normal social life, I work out three times a week, get on me for what?"

My mom explains that my grandfather was a pretty bad alcoholic and she thinks that I may genetically have an addictive personality. I try to explain that I feel that weed is very different from alcohol and any other drug and that I have been using it for almost 2 years and I am still leading a balanced and healthy life.

My mom requests that I see a pyschologist, and I agree to, saying that I am going to tell him the same thing I told my mom.

Any related stories or constructive advice? I already know that I did a couple of foolish things so saying that I should have been more careful or that I shouldn't have sold coke to a friend isn't neccessary.

Naw, I'm pretty sure my dad would have beaten the crap out of me had he found coke in my closet. Weed, maybe not, but coke, definitely. And I grew up nowhere near North Dakota.

FWIW, I missed the part about the coke. However, my distaste of the rural Midwest still holds.

Dude, the coke was a bad idea. Everything else is a lot easier to handle without coke.
