Default 5-10 trips on river, I check and he overbet pushes

villain is Snappo on FT. He's a decent reg, who plays TAG. I know he posts on here - but no special reads, but he's obviously capable of floating/making moves.

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $5/$10 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $929.90
BB: $3,072.00
Hero (UTG): $1,076.00
MP: $1,000.00
CO: $1,336.00
BTN: $979.00

Preflop: Hero is dealt Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (6 Players)
Hero raises to $35.00, 2 folds, BTN calls $35.00, 2 folds

Flop: ($85) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero bets $60.00, BTN calls $60.00

Turn: ($205) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero bets $165.00, BTN calls $165.00

River: ($535) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN bets all-in for $719.00, Hero ???

Anyone prefer a river lead?

I have no idea of what you are doing with these turn/river actions.

Neither do I. I try to play perfectly at all times, but sadly I am only human.

In reality, i'm betting turn for a few reasons: 1) value; 2) mix it up; 3) pretty sure he loves to float me - he constantly thinks i'm full of [censored]. I agree the river check is dreadful. Do you think the turn is a mandatory check?

1) value: you think hes gonna call you with 99??
2) mix it up: a fancy way of people saying "im not sure"
3) he loves to float: so all your doing is letting him get away cheaply. If he loves to float, the turn is such an easy c/c.

Well to be perfectly honest, yes I do think he will call my turn bet w/ 99 a good amount of the time. He kind of abhors folding - and I'm quite certain views me as an aggro monkey. I also think he could call sometimes w/ straight or flush draws - planning to bluff rivers.

"Mix it up" - you are right. It is BS somewhat. But i don't think you can play your hands the same way everytime. Maybe i'm off, but if villains know that you will cbet mid pair on the flop and check it on every turn (instead of firing again) - then your play becomes quite exploitable.
