Re: Third-worst sports injury I\'ve ever seen
[ QUOTE ]
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_blog...e-injuries.html Napoleon McCallum. "oh lord...don't look at this if you don't want to see it" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVchNFaUiVc [/ QUOTE ] Theismann's was much worse. A lot of you guys probably weren't even born or very young when LT did it. It wasn't so much the actual injury; it was the sound and the number of replays MNF did. |

[/ QUOTE ] You just made the argument for McCallum's being worse. Theismann's injury is all about hype and the players involved, the injury itself doesn't stand up to McCallum's without all the external factors. |

[/ QUOTE ] Wait, are we talking about actual injury severity, or witnessing it on TV? If you are talking about injury severity, Dale Eardhart wins since he was killed. Then the next level would be the guys like Kevin Everrett, Pete Utley, and co. that broke their necks. Because if you are talking about seeing it on TV when it happened, the guy is still on the ground, and people in the stands are shocked/crying, nothing beats Theismann's injury. Hell, even LT was going apesh!t yelling for the trainers to get to him quick. |

In the way that you're judging the the Earnhardt injury, I'd say Greg Moore has him beat. I thought Earnhardt would be okay. I knew Greg Moore was dead the instantly. |

I was at the Greg Moore race.
The absolute two worst automobile crashes are Tom Pryce and Gordon Smiley, and I'm not even looking those up. Just so bad. Pryce's is a little different. Smiley's is just gruesome. |

Re: Third-worst sports injury I\'ve ever seen
Well, severity of injury is not the same as gruesomeness. A lot of the paralyzing neck hits are completely innocuous looking.
