Kentucky has opened as a 7-point dog at home against Florida if you guys think that highly of us. I think 7 is a bit high myself. [/ QUOTE ] lol no way i'm actually surprised we are a dog at all, but whatever talk to UK football players, they love being the underdog. probably better for us...i just wonder how long it's going to take for people to realize that UK is for real this year |

Re: OFFICIAL NCAAF Rank\'em thread: October 14, 2007
I KNOW that I am extremely biased and overly giddy over Kentucky's performance to date this season. That being said, I find it absolutely ridiculous that they dropped from #8 to #17 when they lost on the road to a highly ranked (#11 or #17 at the time, depending upon the poll) South Carolina squad. This week, the Wildcats beat #1 LSU and they gain just FOUR slots to #13 in the coaches poll. The stinking BCS computer is bailing the Cats out right now. The computer has us ranked #4, which pulled their overall BCS ranking up to #7.
Rant over. Les |

[ QUOTE ] Good news for Kentucky fans. Craig James moved them up from 25 to 24 in his AP ballot this week. Jeenyus [/ QUOTE ] Congrats, you just put me in favor of a playoff How the [censored] are we going to let polls decide who the best team is when idiots like him get a say [/ QUOTE ] He doesn't get a say. It's the AP poll. But we do need a playoff. |

Fly- It's not SEC vs. Big10 argument. It's the principle that some schedules are strong and some are weak which is why you need a playoff. Also, LOL at Ohio State's schedule not being bad. Do they play a top 20 team all year? [/ QUOTE ] The biggest problem is that OSU, and the PAC 10, and the Big East, do not have conference championship games. If I had a team in the SEC, ACC or Big 12, I'd never schedule a tough OOC game for that reason because you're guaranteed a tough opponent at the end of the year (for the two teams that make it). |

Re: OFFICIAL NCAAF Rank\'em thread: October 14, 2007
Ohio State's schedule has been weak up to this point. However, they still have to go to Michigan and Penn State with home games vs. Illinois and Wisky in between so it's going to get tougher. I don't think you could make a very good argument against them being in the title game if they go 12-0 unless something crazy happens like Kansas and Arizona State both finishing undefeated.

4 Pac-10 teams in the top 12/13 spots. wow. Note that ASU hasn't played anybody yet. They have Cal @ Oregon @ UCLA USC next four games.... [/ QUOTE ] The Cal loss completely screwed the Sun Devils in the short term, and potentially with recruiting. I didn't expect Arizona State to move up too much in the polls with a win over Washington even though they should be in the top 7 or 8 at worst. If Cal was ranked #1, a win would vault ASU into the top 5, if not the top 2!!! Now, a win against Cal is just another two loss nobody and ASU will be ranked 10th or so. Of course it doesn't matter if the Sun Devils win out, but that's a tall order given that schedule. |

[ QUOTE ] Good article about the inequity of the BCS: Linky "Every week isn't a playoff, as the apologists like to claim, when not everyone is playing playoff competition." [/ QUOTE ] I saw this article, but the facts don't match up. Let's look at the last few champions and see who they played non-conference. 2006- Florida. No one of note out of conference, but in a very tough SEC. 2005- Texas. Weak conference, but played @ tOSU who finished #4 in the country. 2004- USC. Played VT, ND, BYU. Pac-10 was a tough conference as well 2003- LSU. Weak out-of-conference schedule (Arizona), tough SEC. 2002- Ohio State. Played Texas Tech, Washington State. Decent Big-10 conference that year. 2001- Miami. Penn State, Florida State, Washington. Big East was decent that year. Every year, the champions proved themselves with tons quality wins. Occasionally someone can luckbox in without a big win, but its the exception, not the rule. [/ QUOTE ] 2002 was an awful year for the big11ten just as last year was it's much better this year than last year |
