This old chestnut eh.
Well in my experience it depends on how much i've had to drink.
Between 0-2 pints then i usually stare at the floor and sort of grunt in their general direction. Then spend the rest of the evening hating myself and having a crap time.
Between 2-5 pints i just smile and say hello.
Any more than 5 pints and i usually just go straight in for a frenchie which if they reject me i can easily turn into a full on headbutt.
So on reflection 2-5 pints it is then.

I usually greet all my girl friends with "OPEN CHEST!!!" followed by a big right to her [censored]. Gotta let em know who's boss
