Quebec thinks its different than Canada and should be its own country. Politically, they have actually taken strong steps to make themselves more independent of the Canadian government...... basically they have HUGE insecurities about being canadian =p

I go up there a bit because of my family and most people are nice... but you do get the granny-type that tries to teach you french when you order food (I had this happen twice).

Think of Quebec as the some parts of the deep South..... they know they are part of the USA but they just really don't want to be part of it.

I hate hijacks, but...what language would that be exactly? We have 3 official languages in North America.

ahha was going to start this forum 2 weeks ago, just didn't know how many 2p2ers were from around here.

I was tempted to email the Lac Leamy casino for some free advice on some of the short comings of some poker rooms. But the email address is loto quebec, so whatever. I know that's going to be a black hole.

I expect the first 4-6 months to probably be terrible just based on what I suspect they will spread for games. Hopefully they ultimately spread a good variety of games. I've never played on the robo-tables, but that could actually save a lot of trouble that a newborn poker room would have. Certainly the misdeals must be reduced, right ? Only thing I wonder is about dinner buttons and such. Anyone know how that works ?

Thanks for the update.

If they do a fifty-fifty split I don't think it will stay that way for long.

Because this area has been a black hole for legalized poker for so long, they might work for a while but I really wonder who is going to play on the electronic tables and whether they will be a success in Hull given they don't have a strong track record eslewhere. I think most poker players(myself included) want to play on a table with a dealer and real chips.

Are they more or less daunting for a newbie? I would think that you would need a lot of staff support early on to get beginners to play and be comfortable on a computer table. Therefore, I wonder if its going to be mostly us poker degens playing on the electronic tables either because we are comfortable with the game or because we can't get on a dealer run table.

What do you guys think?

Bump for a further update...

The poker room at Lac Leamy is under construction, and tentatively scheduled to open December 15. They're putting it in the east (newer) end of the casino. 12 tables total, 6 PokerTek and 6 with live dealers.

The concern over language doesn't seem legit. There's plenty of English spoken at the Aviation Club. Is Quebec more French than France?

As a french living in Quebec I can say YES, they translated Lost (the TV show) into "Perdus", KFC into PFK (Poulet Fris du Kentucky).
