I'm not going to be doing this but I've done it in the past.

Usually trying to get it organized for just one milestone hand is tricky. And if you are going to get a group together to do it for multiple milestone hands leading up to the big one then you are probably going to want to sit higher than .01/.02.

Even .5/1 limit gets you out of micro and into 'low' which is a better prize.

Or 1/2 NL gets you into medium.

Somebody suggested to me that you could have one person raise and everyone fold so it doesn't look too suspicious.
This is not necessary. Stars doesn't seem to care.
Back when they first started doing these thins you could auto-fold all day long and they never stopped you.
They had the heads-up tables eligible for the prize then and it was easy to find one other player who agreed to fold with you, then sit-out for an hour or so and wait for the next one, rinse, repeat, etc.

No cover necessary. Just click and fold as fast as you can on all your tables if you're going to do this.

I do not think it's a good idea at all to agree to split the prize with several other 2+2'ers whom you've never met before.
Surely there are 1 or 2 who will be in your group who would definitely think twice about splitting it with you AFTER they got paid the whole sum.

I think most 2+2'ers agreed with that idea when we did this before.

If you get the auto-fold thing going just do it for the EV of having a chance at the big prize.
Everyone can check it down instead of doing the push-fest if you like...but if someone goes all-in then you're stuck joining him of course.

Even if you had a group of people who you knew really well, I wouldn't be surprised at all if there were complications arising from a pre-agreed split.
Don't even be tempted to try to pull a Jaime Gold on this one.

I know Pokerstars is making money and all that and we pay rake blah blah blah but setting up these fold fest tables is BS.

Sites that run promotions like this should be rewarded for being creative and getting people to their site. I don't want them not running other promotions like this because of crap like this.

Well, I think only the 10 billionth hand is worth the hassle (Assuming you are a winning player)

I don't think it should be too concerning.
They mostly put a stop to it by making the heads-up tables ineligible.
It's way too tricky to get 6 people on a table to all udnerstand what is going on. So you're only option is to pre-arrange it like that.
But not many people do it and it really doesn't make a big difference.

I also think Stars realizes that some of the players coming over to a pre-arranged auto-fold table might be the types who normally play on another site.
Stars should be happy that they are depositing money and showing up on tables...even if it's only for the promotion.
They probably understand that many of the players that do this will end up giving their cash-games a try since they already have money on the site.

That's what the promo is designed to do. Attract new players and reward the loyal players. Even for players setting up an auto-fold table Stars is still partly accomplishing those goals.

Yeah I think I'm only going to do it on the high micros 6-max for the big one. I'm making too much playing straight forward multi-tabling on the others Anyone interested PM me. Have one other so far.

Is the prize based strictly on VIP level or where you're playing?

My VIP is very low, but I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth it to pay a very small amount of rake on like the 1-2$ to get a bigger prize if we were to hit. My inclination right now is to avoid the rake altogether, which I guess means no higher than .25-.50--start paying at 1.00 right?

If anyone is interested in a team for the 10 billionth hand, please count me in. We can sit in 12 high stake tables and rapidly fold. No one is going to lose anything and we have at least 3 times opportunity to be dealt in
100K is worth the effort

[/ QUOTE ]

So earlier in this thread I called you guys "shady" for doing this. Well I'm gonna be a big hypocrite and say that I'm in for this. Oh and I don't think stakes matter at all, so we can just sit at $.01/$.02. Are you guys suggesting doing this at like 12 different tables or just focusing all our energy on one? Moreover should we have an agreement to split the grand prize or just let the winner take it all?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd be in for sitting at an auto fold table too. Someone PM me if you need a warm body. I don't have much of a roll but I'll do what I can.

I gotta admit I am in the camp that thinks setting up auto-fold tables is shady.

While they may have allowed this kind of behavior in the past, I can't see how they would be happy about it. The promotion is to reward people for playing poker. Prearranging a table to continuously fold while generating nothing in rake is not poker. It is using PokerStars' resources and services (and promotion $) without paying for them.

If they don't like people auto-folding, they should not set up a promotion that is literally ASKING for it.
