What if instead of calling the flop you raise it and see if he re-raises you or just calls. That's what I would think of doing in order to try and see whether he has nut flush. Is this wrong? If he re-raises me I would fold.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well, there's still another person to act behind me who might come along for the ride with a worse flush if I just smooth call. He might also shove, in which case I could fold. (This would be more important if there were 2 or 3 people still to act.)

Also, the stacks aren't really deep enough to re-raise and to get away from it if he comes over the top because although I'm drawing very thin if he has the nut flush, I have to call because maybe 25% of the time when he shoves he doesn't have the nut flush (naked Ace, worse flush, set).

And if he's a good player, he'll may smooth call my raise with the nuts for deception and get the rest in on the turn. So I wouldn't necessarily get the information I want anyway.

The question really is, how often is my hand good here? If it's less than something like 45% of the time, I have to fold it, other wise shove. If people do indeed do weird thing in re-raised pots then maybe my hand is good more often than this.

There is so much I don't know it is scary. How do you all think of all of these percentages when you have maybe 15 seconds to act? There is so little time to make your decisions and so much you have to consider.

Call the turn. Don't worry about the Jh, as it's one out and doesn't significantly change your decision making.

Worst possible play, if he is calling the turn he absolutely can't fold the river getting 6 to 1 on the call. So raising is better.

In very close decisions, a 2-4% chance of sucking out when you're behind can easily make the difference.
