What other countries have similar gambling bans? Any?

yes australia banned online poker last year!

spain or italy force an IP ban with the last year or two of online gambling sites.

Im definitely no expert on this at all my understanding is that in australia we cant play on australian sites or on sites associated with australian sportsbooks etc so effectively I can continue to play poker at all the (what used to be) major sites.

anyway nothing is enforced so whatever they have written down is a toothless tiger.

Italy nas a block on all internet gambling sites because they were trying to negotiate a deal with one big site (giving them a captive market for a piece of the pie).

That fell through, so they copied the UK and it will be legal and taxed soon.

Note that the UK taxes the poker sites, if they are stupid enough to be "on-shore".

Players are not taxed, as all gambling winnings in the UK are tax-free.
