Default Re: Fold QQ preflop?

Maybe some of you did not notice that UTG and CO are really tight passive players.

UTG could certainly raise with many hands that I beat, such as JJ, TT and AQ.

With CO so tight I think he would only 3-bet QQ+ and AK plus maybe JJ.

UTG would certainly only cap it with KK+ and AK (AK this time given his flop play).

So when it comes to me in the small blind, is fold really that bad given the above ranges? If I cap it preflop and UTG calls then what do I know about his hand? If I call and he caps, he probably has KK+/AK.

Please tell me what is wrong with my reasoning.

BTW I agree that my postflop play is bad.

I think you are overestimating your opponents and relying too much on stats.

What have you SEEN them 3-bet and cap with? Anything? You have the 3rd best starting hand and no idea of where you are at. Cap pre-flop lead the flop, if you get bet and raised you might fold, but I'd probably just call down overcards. Take notes on what villains were playing.

This hand was not played well. You should have definitely raised preflop and then bet on the flop. If you get raised on flop then you have something to think about, but c/c with that flop is not good, you have to be more aggressive.

OP, how strong are your reads? How long have you been playing against them? Have you seen them do anything exceptionally nitty?

If your reads can be trusted I don't think this line is horrible but if it's based on a small sample of stats they may just have been running bad before.

I've done it maybe 4 times, and I was only right 1 of those times. Now I don't do it at all.

To be fair I could see it if it were a cold-cap to him and the capper was like a 7/3/.5 over 500+hands.
