[100nl] Stack-a-donk gone bad, what now
Party Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 5 players Converter Stack sizes: Hero: $228.90 CO: $79.90 Button: $98.50 SB: $51.40 BB: $210.40 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero raises to $4, CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls. Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($12.5, 3 players) BB checks, Hero bets $10, CO calls, BB folds. Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($32.5, 2 players) Hero checks, CO checks. River: 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($32.5, 2 players) Hero checks, CO bets $34, Hero ??? I haven't been on the table for long but I tangled with him earlier. In that hand, I c-bet the flop and checked turn and he bet. So I figured that'd be good way to get paid off by a J. Obvious drawback to this is that if he has FD, he just checkes behind. So when river doublepairs board, I'm not sure what I should do. Would blocking bet make more sense than check-call. I have no idea what his overbet means here. |

As played call, he could be making this move w/ A high.

Re: [100nl] Stack-a-donk gone bad, what now
u have on hand of him betting the turn when checked to...no reason to think this is some exploitable patter to use against him. Bet the turn.
id call river. plenty of draws missed. |

Re: [100nl] Stack-a-donk gone bad, what now
Its too drawy a board to go for the c/r, too many draws are going to check behind. So yeah lead the turn usually here, as played Id lead the river for $22 and fold to a raise.

Re: [100nl] Stack-a-donk gone bad, what now
As played, call. Diamonds didn't get there, neither did 910 or 79.
It is my impression that stack-a-donk is calling a raise on the flop OOP then check raising. He hasn't shown any aggressiveness yet and the board is very drawy so I definitely would not go for the check-raise. Lead the turn for $25. |

I check/raise the river for value. He has very little left and if he has the 8 so be it. He is not bet/folding any pair.

Re: [100nl] Stack-a-donk gone bad, what now
Ye, I realized it later in the session when I got better read of this guy - he floated with very wide variety of hands, I should've kept betting on turn. In this hand obv, he hit a boat on the river with K8.
The thing is, at the time of the hand, I didn't know what his overbets mean - now I have pretty good notes on him His bluffs were weak, his valuebets were mostly overbets. |

Re: [100nl] Stack-a-donk gone bad, what now
lead turn, board is too draw heavy to try c/r. as played, easy call on river. Leading river is ok too, but I like the check given villian's line.
