I expected to be very good at this but I only had 11 out of 20. Any monkey can make 11.
I am appalled with these results. I don't understand, my reading abilities at the brick&mortar pokertables are exeptionally good, but apparently I suck at this.
At the pokertable I know when a player is bluffing and I know when a player has a strong hand.
This almost seems like a paradox.
Mayby reading smiles is not really impportant at the pokertables; I don't know.

What they don't talk about in that link directly is how good an actor any one person is, if they're all actors or if only some are acting, and what defines a genuine versus a "fake" smile. If we're wondering at how at how good we are at detecting motive through expression, it helps to know context. Is every smile supposed to be joyous? Be part of a laugh? Of a surprise? Of bemused tolerance towards a clumsy dog's tail knocking over a soda? Because those smiles are all different, and may look fake or not depending on context. With NO context, we are missing so much that we use to judge authenticity.

I should say that I misclicked and couldn't view a couple of them for real, but I still did no better than 16/20.

18/20. Missed #17 and 20.

I think the ending of a smile is a good clue.
