Do you use headsets when playing online?

What do you mean by "competitive"? I only play ranked matches and I play to win. I prefer playing Team matches over free for alls but I'm still competitive. Could you clarify your statement please.

It's really useful for team matches and you only can talk to and hear your teammates, unless of course they have private chat enabled, which is dumb in team games.

These are all ranked and competitive.

Yes for all..

I use the one for 360 for every game on live(usually just to BS, not strat talk), and for CS:S I use headphones but not a mic..

I don't know why you wouldn't use it on a team game like Halo 3. There's tons of "I'm right behind you, I've got your back" and "watch out, there's a sniper on the cliff up there" type talk. It's huuuuge for strategy in any team game. I really wouldn't be happy if I had a teammate that wasn't using a headset.

Plus, it's great to chat with friends. My buddy was playing Madden while I was playing H3 campaign and we were just talking about stuff. It's a cool feature that you don't even need to be playing the same game to chat.

I only use it when I'm playing with someone I actually know. Maybe when I get better at Halo 3 I'll use it for strategy, but only when I'm alone in the house for fear of sounding stupid!

Yeah, there is some of that associated with using a headset/voice chat.. I remember the first time my parents walked in on me because they thought I was talking to them. It was a bit embarassing. Even more so because I'd probably just shouted something nerdily warcraft related.

I've never used one, but it seems like it would be a terrific advantage in RTS's, too. If I were playing competitively again, I'd probably have to get one. But I don't look forward to hearing most of the people I've played with, so I'd almost certainly say I didn't have it unless it was someone I was in a clan or league with. And even then ...

Yes, I use it to talk to my friends/those I'm playing with on ventrilo. I would never use an ingame voice feature. There are waaaay too much stupid ppl on the internets.

Also, if you ever play a game with a team in a clan or so, you're gonna have to use it. Thats the end of that discussion [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
