In the episode where they are on the Boy Scouts rafting trip they get swept out to sea and Homer pulls out a Krusty Burger map and guides them to an oil rig in the Atlantic Ocean, so unless the initial trip took them from Oregon to east coast to go rafting, Oregon is a no go.

Wasn't there an episode in which someone points to springfield on a map but the view is blocked by someone's body (Homer's?)?

I think I remember it being somewhere in the Mid-West.

I thought this question was answered in the Behind the Laughter episode where the narrator says they are from Kentucky.

In case its not, for those tallying clue lists, keep in mind that west springfield is 5 times the size of texas.
