Deus Ex (greatest game ever), anything like it?

So I just went out and bought Deus Ex 2 (Invisible War) since Deus Ex kicked holy ass... Deus Ex was probably the sickest FPS I've ever played. Apparently I lack the video card capacity to play DE2, since the game crashes to my desktop at the [censored] load screen... my computer's only about 1 year old, it was never high specs or anything but is there any way to like, fool the game into thinking I have a better graphics card? lol

Alternately, are there any other good FPSs that don't require an insane level of graphics card to run? I liked Return to Castle Wolfenstein back in the day... Half Life 2 obviously rules but I very much doubt my computer can handle that if it can't stomach Deus Ex 2... Farcry is up my alley... any other good FPSs that I'm missing?

Try upgrading your drivers for your video card, that's probably why it's crashing. FWIW, I was a much, much bigger fan of DX1 than DX2, and haven't really found anything that matches the first game.

I think System Shock and System Shock 2 might be the answer here. They're older, so you won't have a problem running it. System Shock 2 is probably the one you should play.

I have a doodoo basic intel driver, it claimed not to need upgrading (I have direct X 10 now, or something) but I suspect that it is full of [censored].

DX1 was so badass... even if 2 kinda sucks, I can't play 1 another fifty times lol

Well, I agree that 1 is absolutely the best game ever. I think you'll be somewhat disappointed by 2 (I was) but you'll still enjoy it and def worth playing anyway.

I see you're only looking for FPS but there's this amazing older game called Crusader: No Remorse (and its sequel, No Regret) that laid a lot of foundation for Deus Ex's gameplay with the cameras, bots, security, infiltration, many ways to solve one problem etc.

Play system shock I/II, Deus Ex 2 isn't the same type of game as Deus Ex, its much more a straight forward FPS.
