Party Poker Stock up big, news coming on US Online Gambling?
Party gaming is up 6 points or over 15% today on speculation that there could be a softening in the UIGEA. Do any of our political insiders on this forum have any news?
I tend to think the smart money is usually ahead of the press, but with a volatile stock like Party Poker, it could be a bunch of poseurs manipulating the stock. |

Re: Party Poker Stock up big, news coming on US Online Gambling?
From the Financial Times:
[ QUOTE ] Repeal of online gaming ban sought By Stephanie Kirchgaessner and Jeremy Grant in Washington Published: March 14 2007 13:48 | Last updated: March 14 2007 13:48 Barney Frank, the Democratic chairman of the powerful House financial services committee, is working on legislation to repeal the sweeping ban that was passed in Congress last year against online gaming, he told the Financial Times in an interview. Mr Frank called the ban, formally known as the Unlawful Enforcement Gambling Act, one of the “stupidest laws” ever passed and said he wanted to “repeal” the law. [/ QUOTE ] VQ - The only mainstream reference that I found to Barney Frank trying to repeal the UIGEA is here. His involvement is still in the rumor and speculation mode. There are blogs that reference the move and having his spokesperson deny that he's trying anything. Then, there is another article from the Financial Times where one would need to pay for a subscription that leads into Frank's involvement. The sniff of change caused the speculators to buy the shares, I think, but I don't have any background in stock analysis (as you may know). Even though I did stay in an Holiday Inn Express. ES |

Cautious optimism appropriate? [/ QUOTE ] I wish I knew how to be cautiously optimistic with regard to this subject. Unfortunately I turn into an excited retard with a lolly-pop when I read posts like this. I can feel the endorphins rushing through my brain. |
