Thanksgiving in Vegas

I am going to Vegas with a group of people from 11/21-11/24. Half of us are going to play some poker on this trip. My question is this: Will the action suck because it is Thanksgiving? Or, because of the long weekend, does it stay as busy as it normally is.

I'm in NY and I was thinking of going down for that weekend too. Do you know roughly how much it would cost from here? Sorry for totally not answering your question, although maybe indirectly I have by suggesting that because its a long weekend tourists will be around.

You're going to be there on a Tues-Fri so the action won't be nearly as good as on the weekend (unless there's a tournament in town).

Thanksgiving itself may be slow but the Friday-Sunday afterwards will be very good.

You may find fewer tables going, but the action on said tables may be better than average.

I thought Christmas Day in Vegas at the poker tables would be slow. Not even! Christmas just seemed to bring out the action Asians. Not everybody in the world adheres to US or Christian holidays and Thanksgiving is definitely a US-only tradition. The tables may have a bit more international bias than normal on Thanksgiving, but that's not a bad thing.

Trust me, it wasn't just asians. These people from Cali were all like "Well I just spent 12 hours on I15 from LA getting here, traffic is backed up horribly". (and they're american)

And all I could think is ...wtf would make you want to sit in traffic for 12+ hours to go to a casino, then stand in a 3 hour buffet line, only to go home the next day???

Yes, buffet and dinner lines were multiple hour waits. People lining up for the lunch hours (11am on) at like 830am and so on. I'd say F it, go off strip or order room service [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

T-day is the holiday to spend at home with families. Christmas is the holiday to travel and have fun. This is the way it's been for decades, at least. Vegas and ski areas are packed around Christmas time.

We were there over Thanksgiving a couple of times and the last time, the MGM Grand was sold out for Friday night.

I'm going for Thursday-Sunday. Hard Rock was running a special (long over), but everyone else is on usual weekend prices. I won't be playing enough to clear a poker rate, so I don't know if that's a viable option. Wish I could be more helpful.
