Default Changes to baseball

Shorten the regular season by 20 games and play 15 game postseason series'. That way, the best team might win the world series more than occasionally.

I don't give a [censored] if the best team wins the World Series. I would like to see much more credit given to the team with the most regular season wins (maybe in both leagues) though.

Can anyone explain why the league has a 16-team NL and 14-team AL? If I'm not mistaken, it has to do with the scheduling, correct?

The way I see it, wouldn't it be easier to have 6 5-team divisions and play X games vs division opponents and 2/3-1/2X games against non-division opponents and eliminate the wild card?

I could even live with shortening the regular season by 4 games, making the 1st round of the playoffs best of 7 and the WS best of 9.

Really, screw PLAYING to decide the winner. They should just have fans and sportswriters vote for the champs. This is a democracy, BTW.

I would also like them to shorten the regular season, and lengthen the post season series (especially in the earlier rounds), but I think 15 is way too many.

Maybe, they could have the 4 playoff teams play a round robin for the pennant, and then go from that to a best of 7 (or 9) world series. I think that would be awsome.

The other thing that I think could be done if they would shorten the regular season, is to have a real world baseball classic.

Obv, this isn't going to happen, but I really think there is no good reason to make the season so long.

Does anyone have any strong opinions on 2-3-2 playoff series vs 2-2-1-1-1? I'd think that 2-3-2 is preferable from the underdogs point of view, and I've done a bunch of hand-waving math, but I'm curious to hear other points of view.
