Default Basic Noob Query / Apologies

I've only played a couple of live games in my life and then only tournaments. I've never been in what you could call a cardroom. I have a question about limits at your average casino/cardroom which I couldn't find in the stickys etc. (though they had excellent information for me). I'm sure it's been answered before so sorry about that.

Online I play NL50-NL200 and I'm only comfortably rolled for NL100. Could someone tell me what the standard minimum blind values are in casinos/cardrooms please? Playing 1-2 would be a stretch as most of my recreational funds are online (broke student) and I don't suppose they have 50 cent chips to post the small blind in .50-1 games? (I hope they do). I could play 2-4 or 3-6 limit but limit just tilts me no end. They would probably run smaller tournaments but I don't like playing those either. But I need to get out of the house and play with the live ballers - I'm pretty excited - it actually never occurred to me there might be a real cardroom near me and there is! One more thing, how many buyins should I bring if I plan to stick around for about 10 hours? Many thanks - it's not the end of the world if 1-2 is the minimum but I want to go tonight

The minimum for NL is going to be $1/$2NL, the buyin varies with the cardroom as it can be anywhere from $40min buyin to $100 min buyin and $100max to $500 max.

1/2 is typically the smallest NL game you'll find. Good luck!

Many casinos have changed from $1/$2 to $1/$3

Understand that 1/2 live plays bigger with much poorer play compared to on-line. The standard opening raise will be about $10.

However, a 1/2 game live could be compared to 25NL and 50NL on-line pretty consistantly in terms of player ability. If you are a winning player at .5/1 and 1/2 on-line you will regularly be one of the best if not the best player at your table.

Thanks fellows - I'll go anyway to play a few tourneys. I'm sure I'll enjoy it and I can play 1-2 next time anyway.

Yeah I heard that the standard of play in live games was notoriously bad chitown. It's a pity they play bigger. I'll gather up some funds soon enough though. I'm sure they'll have some donkaments I can enter. I'm mainly going to have fun and my favorite game is NL cash which is why I want to get into that game. Even if I had a large edge I guess my live winrate at NL200 at 40 hands an hour buying drinks and tipping etc. wouldn't be anything to write home about.

I would go with $600 if you plan to play a session of 1/2 live. A largest percentage of the time this will be a fine amount for a day of play. You would have to run into quite a few coolers and suckouts to lose that amount.

In AC 1-2 is 60 min 300 max. $100 buyin plus 2 rebuys and a 60 rebuy is plenty for in this game unless you get sucked out on more than 4 times.

I was planning on bringing at least 6 buyins but I suppose I can always go home if I lose it. What I might do is start off playing the cash game and if I drop enough go play small donkaments instead. I don't want to buy in short because I hate having to wait for cards and this is going to be amplified at a live, full, table.
