Default need a cheap room in (safe) walking distance to the strip

So I'm going out with the woman to Vegas for a few days next month. I plan on staying for about a week after she leaves to try to make up for how expensive she'll inevitably be. Anybody have any recommendations (i.e. a motel 6) that is within walking distance of the strip and does not involve a trek through naked town?

I think there was a Motel 6 or something like that right on the strip, about a block from the Tropicana where I was staying.

Sahara, Imperial Palace, Frontier, Circus, Tropicana. Often one or more will be cheaper than Super 8's, Motel 6's, and Travelodges (but often not). This is what hotels.com and equivalent web sites are for.

What are the rooms like there? Clean? Disgusting? Any detectable odors?

Something to consider is how far you're willing to walk in 105 degree heat. Vegas in June is pretty warm.

Casino Royale is super cheap. No pool though(well they do have a pool, but its so crappy they might as well not have one). It is between Harrahs and Venetian. Motel 6 quality rooms. As previous poster said, IP is also really cheap sometimes(like $50 a night midweek).

Bro Ante up. You going to spend a lot of money anyway. Might as well get a spot with a nice pool and all. [censored] I may go back to Vegas again in July. Think I may stay at the Trop. Trop is not that expensive and close to everything. Win some money and you'll be ok. If I pass out in the heat I don't mind b/c I like very hot weather. As long as I don't get robbed by those guys who do the 3 card montee on the strip. Still can't believe tourists would actually play that and lose there money when they can lose it in the casino. Saw a fool lose $600 in 30 secs while walking pass him.
