You need a book to teach you those things? The first 4 are things you should be able to just figure out by thinking about the game. But lets say the person never took finite in high school and they are not the bright. One short book should introduce the basics.

I also don't see how the strategy in most books would be of much use at 0.25-0.50. In fact it would actually screw most people up as they would be doing things that simply don't apply to microlevel. I have never played 0.25-0.50 but I did try to teach someone and used 0.50-1.00 for that. The game is just bingo. Getting fancy will actually hurt your play at this level.

why do you lose at poker? TRUTHFULLY HERE IT GOES........

1) the other players are outlucking you
2) when you are getting outlucked you tilt and keep losing from bad plays
3) you have bad bankroll management
4) you need motivation to win and be good

fix those and you might win

Yes I am unfamiliar with it. When I started playing poker there were books but they were hard to get so no one read them. It wasn't like now where there is an entire shelf at Chapters devoted to poker. There also was no online game so 3-6 / 5-10 was the lowest you were going to find.

There has always been bad players but if you compare the level of play between the pre-book, pre-poker on TV 24/7 and now it is like night and day. The game is so much easier now then it use to be yet the percentage of players who read books has increased dramatically.

Buy this book.

The Psychology of Poker by Alan N. Schoonmaker, Ph.D.

Do all the worksheets at the end of each chapter.

Reevaluate how and why you play.

Adjust, and try again.

My guess is that you play too many hands and enjoy the "thrill" and/or the "action."

It is also possible that you play for other reasons. But when you finish the book, you'll have a better frame of reference for how to think about poker so you can make money at it.

Right. And SSHE (Yes, a book!) clearly sets that out and presents a winning strategy for limpfests -- based on playing better cards and getting better implied odds. I wouldn't recommend Stox's book for someone playing micros but certainly there are aspects to the game that can be learned from books.
