stud 8 opening hand ?
Is it +ev in certain situations to go forth and play a hand like mines here hoping for a straight draw with a low or maybe a little something else, if i dont take it beyond 4th street if i catch bad on 4th and if i catch good on 4th but catch bad on 5th ill end it there. Table is loose passive.
Dealt to villian1 [kc] Dealt to mhickey187 [Jd] Dealt to jimmycar [Ks] Dealt to Porcine [7c] Dealt to backgammon1 [10h] Dealt to hero [7d 6s Td] Dealt to desiree21 [Js] Dealt to Fun Storm [2d] |

Even if you catch 'good' you you're still either drawing to a gutshot or need two more cards for a mediocre low. |

Re: stud 8 opening hand ?
I'm trying to figure out what could possibly constitute catching good to that hand. Maybe the eight of diamonds makes the hand go from horrible to bad.

Re: stud 8 opening hand ?
If you never, ever play a hand with a ten in it in stud/8, you won't be missing much.

Re: stud 8 opening hand ?
Basically, if your doorcard is a ten, you should only play if you have wired aces, rolled up tens (trips), or a live straight flush draw. A hand like T43 suited may be playable if you're closing the action in a multiway pot if your cards are live, but I'd much rather have the ten in the hole.
Basically, in stud 8 you want three good low cards, the best high hand, or a hand with a strong chance to scoop a big pot. |
